Vow Ideas
Do you want something a little more special than just repeating what the officiant says?
For these personal vows, the officiant will not read them and you repeat back…but rather you will either memorize them or read them from note cards or maybe a journal. You can type them or handwrite them. Dave and I had a custom journal made when we were married and this is what we wrote our vows in and read from it during the ceremony. Every anniversary since, we have written new vows and pick a special spot to renew them to each other. Last year was Mt. Rainer and this year was “Location A” in the Red River Gorge.
I met with the designer of our journal and told her our story…since Dave loves astronomy, she sewed constellations on the front and back cover. On wedding night was a quarter moon, so that is what she added to the front. Since I love to hike, she added a tree to the back cover. As a final touch, she added a rock from the spot where Dave and I had our first date…he took me on a hike on the Rock Bridge Trail in the Red River Gorge. This journal has such a special place in our lives and our hearts. When times get rough, all we need to do is get it out and read our yearly growth and we are renewed.
