Chimney Top Rock
My Tiny Wedding offers this amazing spot in the Red River Gorge. You will see the awesome views of Half Moon, Hanson’s Point, Revenuer’s Rock, Raven’s Rock, Cloud Splitter and Princess Rock. In the fall the colored hues of the leaves put on a show that sparkles in the evening sunlight. However, do not expect a private ceremony as this site is a popular attraction in the area.
This site is available for: Whippoorwill, Deluxe and Gorgeous Day Packages
Number of guest this site can accommodate: 0 to 20
Traffic Flow: Heavy to Moderate Weekday evenings are usually slow. Weekends see a steady flow of hikers .
Due to traffic of hikers and the lighting for photographs, it is preferred that ceremonies at this location are scheduled from sunrise until 10:00 am or 2 hrs prior to sunset
(the time for sunrise and sunset depends on the time of year)
Hike: The hike is about .6 of a mile on a mostly paved/gravel trail. (About a 15 minute walk)
The trail does turn into a dirt path with rock step downs towards the end.
Best Time: Early morning or late afternoon/evening.
There is no shade so this site is not suitable for midday ceremonies in the warmer months.
Chairs: Not needed, room for guest to stand or sit on rock wall.
Accessibility: This trail is not wheelchair/stroller/walker accessible as the hill at the end is too steep and has roots and a wheelchair cannot maneuver around them. This trail is not suitable for persons who may have some mobility issues.
Footwear needed for this trail: Sneakers, hiking boots, good walking shoes are suggested. This trail is not suitable for flip-flops, sandals, heels or dress shoes. You are always welcome to change into your desired shoes once we arrive at the location.
Good to know: This overlook has no shade and is in the sun all day long. It is suggested that your guest bring water. If this is a sunset ceremony, flashlights are useful for the hike back. This hike is VERY exposed. Children need to be watched VERY CAREFULLY. There is a railing, but ANYONE can very easily slip under a section of it near the entrance of the overlook which is a 200 foot fall.
