Bride and Groom have decided to have their wedding day ceremony at
Gladie Cabin Site
Little bit about this walk:
Distance: About 60 feet. Very short walk.
Type of trail: Gravel and grass along a subtle incline.
Accessibility: This trail is wheelchair accessible as long as your wheelchair can easily roll through the grass. With a little helping hand, older folks should be able to walk this.
Footwear needed for this trail: Any footwear is suitable for this trail, but comfortable shoes are suggested. You will be standing in grass…heels could sink if the ground is soft.
Good to know: This site has some interesting artifacts from the area during the early part of the last century. If you arrive early, feel free to take a look around in the barn and farming tools out in the field. The cabin is for visitors, as well.
First and foremost:
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GOOGLE/GPS/MAPQUEST/ETC. DIRECTIONS TO THIS SITE: These systems are not reliable for the Forest Service Roads. You will Google directions to the general area, but must follow directions to the specific ceremony location.
PRINT OUT THESE DIRECTIONS even if you are all meeting up and following each other. It is so easy to get separated from the others…there are many pull offs and cars will pull out in front of you if you fall too far behind from the car in front of you. These cars might be driving very slow and before you know it…the cars in front of you are way out of sight. In addition, we DO NOT get internet service down in the Red River Gorge…deciding once you are in the gorge to actually look up the directions is a sure fire way to miss the ceremony. Every single car should have a printed set of directions inside of it. Make it happen and you’ll be glad you did!
