Alternative Ideas For The Flower Girls

As you already know, the Forest Service prohibits the release of flower pedals (live or fake) within it’s boundaries.  This is for good reason as they are protecting the land from potential pollination and non-native insects invading our delicate flora causing thousands of acres of damage (look at what a non-native worm has done to our precious Hemlock Trees).
Using fake petals isn’t a good alternative because they oftentimes blow off the cliff lines before they are able to be recollected after the ceremony.

We understand that you would like for your flower girl to be part of the ceremony and have done some research and found some very cute ideas that are within the Forest Service Guidelines:

• A love note.  Handwrite a short love note and give it to her to hand to the groom when she reaches the alter.  A nice surprise for him and a nice touch for the ceremony.

• Carry a sign announcing the bride.  Here are some cute ones on Etsy: CLICK HERE

• Ribbon Wands – easy to make and fun when you have more than one flower girl…even better if you have her wear fairy wings!: CLICK HERE

• Carry your train – giving her this very special task will make her feel important

• If it’s near the end of October or November, collecting leaves at the ceremony site and having her toss those is a environmentally conscience alternative to flower petals.

• Have her ring a bell while walking down the aisle.  Or carry a string of bells.

• A mini bubble machine hidden inside a basket blowing bubbles as she walks down the aisle is always fun.  Even more fun if she follows you down…what a beautiful photo op…the bride walking down the aisle surrounded by bubbles!

• Pinwheels such as these are fun.

• A small lantern with an electronic candle inside.
